个人简介
I am Associate Professor at the Psychology and Child & Human Development Academic Group at the National Institution, Nanyang Technological University. Apart from that, I also serve as Associate Dean, Education Research, as well as Co-Director of the Centre for Research in Child Development. Trained as a clinical psychologist and as an early interventionist, I have spent the past 20 years of experience working with persons with neurodevelopmental disabilities.
As an active researcher, I am leading/have led, as principal investigator, research projects with a combined quantum of over SGD$6 million. I am primarily engaged in life course studies of individuals with neurodevelopmental disabilities and those with biological or environmental risk. One area of focus among the outcomes I study is the quality of life of individuals with neurodevelopmental disabilities and that of families. Related to this aspect is an increasing interest I have on voice of individuals with neurodevelopmental disabilities. As Singapore is a context which until recently, has not conducted much research, I have devoted a significant proportion of the time I have in research to developing, adapting, and norming instruments which may be used for future studies.
Complementing my work as researcher, I teach/have taught courses on early childhood intervention, autism spectrum disorders, and the assessment of children. My work extends to consulting with organizations to support children with autism spectrum disorders and more broadly, including students with special educational needs.
I also contribute to the community serving as President of Rainbow Centre, Singapore and on several Advisory Panels to the government. At an international level, I also serve as a board member of the International Association for the Scientific Study of Intellectual Disabilities (IASSID) Academy. Additionally, I serve on the editorial boards including the European Journal of Psychological Assessment, Communication Disorders Quarterly, Infants and Young Children, and the International Journal of School and Educational Psychology.
