个人简介
Keith A. Ryden (M’08) received the B.Sc. degree (Hons.) in electrical and electronic engineering from the University of Bath, Bath, England, in 1986, and the M.Sc. degree in satellite engineering from the University of Surrey, Guildford, U.K., in 1988.
From 1986 to 2000, he was with the Ministry of Defence (MoD), Royal Aerospace Establishment, Farnborough, U.K., carrying out research to support the U.K. Skynet military satellite constellation, focusing especially on radiation and plasma environments and their effects on electronic systems. As a part of this work, he led the development of the STRV1a/b radiation effects research satellites, which were launched in 1994. He then joined QinetiQ, Farnborough, from 2000 to 2013, where he was Leader for Space Environment and Effects and involved in numerous MoD, European Space Agency (ESA) and industrial projects. He was appointed as a QinetiQ Technical Fellow in 2007. He currently holds the position of Reader in space engineering with the University of Surrey Space Centre, where his research interests cover space and atmospheric radiation environments and its effects on technology, especially single event effects, ionizing dose and electrostatic charging. He is a Principal Investigator for a number of radiation monitors deployed in space and in the upper atmosphere. He has co-authored the Royal Academy of Engineering report Extreme Space Weather: Impacts on Engineered Systems and Infrastructure (2013).
Mr. Ryden is a Chartered Engineer and a fellow of the Institution of Engineering and Technology. He is a member of the U.K. Space Environment Impact Expert Group, which advises government.
