I hold a joint appointment in the Melbourne Medical School and the Department of Computing and Information Systems, and I do research at the intersection of health science and information science. My current research interests include: •Public participation in health through new technologies: Patients’ and consumers’ use of web-based health information and communication, related health behaviours and health outcomes •Professional education for e-health: Educational strategy and policy for building health informatics knowledge, skills and attributes required to improve e-health competence in the health workforce •Health sector change arising from new technologies: Integration of emerging high capacity broadband technologies in healthcare and biomedicine, and their potential influence on health literacy, health services and research communication •E-learning, assessment and evaluation in higher education and continuing professional development, particularly in health professions
