Career Trajectory
Bio
My research program is focused on patient safety at EDs and is carried out through several projects and researchers through national and international collaboration. EDs often suffer from crowding due to several reasons, for example large amount of patients seeking care concurrently and boarding while waiting for an in-hospital bed. Crowding contributes to increased length of stay at the ED and patients are cared for in an environment which is not designed, staffed or equipped for in-hospital care which may have negative impact on patient safety. With crowding there is also a need for safe and valid triage systems that assure that patients are treated for in order of their clinical urgency. The projects within the research program focus on 1) ED triage, 2) peripheral venous catheters, 3) patient safety in relation to ED organization.
