My research is defined by my background as a palaeoecologist – its focus lies in the reconstruction of past climate and environments using both marine and freshwater sediment proxy records. My expertise include marine, brackish and freshwater diatom taxonomy and ecology, and sediment biomarkers (especially IP25). My current research is mainly, but not exclusively, focused on the Arctic, and I am keenly interested in proxy evaluation and development.
