Karen Rother

Karen Rother studied biochemistry at the University of Leipzig, Germany. After obtaining her diploma in 1999 she joined the group of Prof. Kurt Engeland, Molecular Oncology Medical School, University of Leipzig, Germany as a Ph.D. student. She obtained her Ph.D. (Dr. rer. nat.) in 2002, and continued research work as a postdoctoral fellow in Prof. Engeland’s group. In 2007 Karen Rother was accepted into the M.D/Ph.D. program of the University of Leipzig and she successfully finished the program in 2010. She was awarded her second doctorate (Dr. rer. med.) and became a junior professor in molecular biology at Saarland University in the same year. In 2013 she returned to the University of Leipzig in the group Dr. Jörg Galle. Her major research interests are epigenetic regulations in intestinal stem cells.
