K. Kobayashi (Member, IEEE) received the M.E. and Ph.D. degrees from Hosei University, Tokyo, Japan, in 1991 and 1994, respectively. From 1994 to 1996, he served as a Research Associate at Oakland University, Rochester, MI, USA. From 1996 to 2000, he served as a Lecturer; from 2000 to 2009, as an Assistant Associate Professor; and since 2009, he has been a Professor at Hosei University. His research interests include systems engineering, sensing methods, and mobile robots. Dr. Kobayashi is a member of the Japan Society for Fuzzy Theory, Intelligent Informatics Association, Unmanned Vehicle Systems International, and Society of Automotive Engineers.
