I am consultant in General Surgery and Digestive Diseases, Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery and Coloproctology, belonging to the Obesity unit. I obtained my Bachelor in Medicine at the University of Murcia with an Extraordinary Degree Award. Doctor of Medicine and Surgery from the University of Murcia in 1988 with the qualification of "Cum Laude". Extraordinary Doctorate Award in Medicine and Surgery at the University of Murcia. Head of Section of Surgery at "Virgen de la Arrixaca" University Hospital. Head of the Surgery Service at Hospital Quirón Murcia. European BOARD in Coloproctology: Unique title in Europe that certifies training in Coloproctology, Expert surgeon in bariatric and metabolic surgery by the SECO (Spanish Society of Obesity and Metabolic Surgery, Member of the Team of the Liver Transplantation Unit of the "Virgen de la Arrixaca" University Hospital (Murcia). Member of the panel of experts in the prevention of bowel and rectal cancer at the Department of Health of the Region of Murcia. Pioneer of laparoscopic surgery and responsible for the implementation and development of the laparoscopic surgery section in "Virgen de la Arrixaca" University Hospital, firstly performing medium level of complexity interventions such as cholecystectomies, appendectomy, hiatal hernias, splenectomies and adding later more complex interventions such as low digestive tract cancer, morbid obesity, inflammatory bowel disease…. All this healthcare activity has been the subject of several randomized prospective studies on appendectomies, cholecystectomies, colon and rectal cancer, morbid obesity and single-port laparoscopic surgery, among others, which were published in those journals with the highest impact factor on the field of surgery. Completion of several specialization courses: Stage of hepatobiliary training and liver transplantation in the Service of Prof. H. Bistmuth, Hospital "Paul Brousse" in Paris, Stage of training in Laparoscopic Surgery at Prof. F. Dubois' Service, Paris, Stage of training in Laparoscopic Surgery at the Docteur P. Mouret's Department of, training in coloproctology at St Mark's Hospital in London, Certification of Training in Chirugie Digestive Laparoscopique techniques by the Société Française de Chirugie Digestive. Certificat d´Universite de Chirugie Viscerale Laparoscopique by the Universite Louis Pasteur (Strasbourg). Various projects and research grants from local and national institutions as first investigator or collaborator in aspects related to colorectal cancer, laparoscopic surgery and obesity Creation of several scientific papers published in national and international journals, book chapters, communications in national and international conferences and direction of doctoral theses on the fields of laparoscopic surgery, colorectal cancer and obesity. For years I have been collaborating with the research group directed by Dr. Marta Garaulet (PI of the present proposal) in the study of the circadian clock of human adipose tissue. I have participated as a collaborating researcher in the previous projects granted by the ministry (projects AGL2008 01655 / ALI and BFU 2011 24720) that established the bases of the current proposal and for which we are pioneers in the study of chronobiology and obesity.
