Jose Garcia

I am specialized in supramolecular chemistry, materials chemistry and chemical and biological interactions. My educational background and research achievements are focused in organic chemistry. I am specialized in synthesis, purification, characterization as well as performing fluorescence studies (in solution, solid or microscopy measurements) as well as in writing reports for projects or publications. My PhD was financed with a FPU scholarship; and performed under the supervision of Tomás Torroba Pérez (Universidad de Burgos). I also completed a 3 months collaboration stay at the Imperial College (London) under the supervision of James D. Wilton-Ely. From July 2019 to November 2021, I was Postdoc researcher at Geneva (Switzerland) under the supervision of professor Stefan Matile working in Organic Synthesis and Chemical Biology with Mechanosensitive Fluorescent Probes. Awarded with a Juan de la Cierva Incorporación 2020 and a María Zambrano postdoctoral scholarship, I opted for the latter and, from January 2022, I joined the group of Tomás Torres at Universidad Autónoma de Madrid. Now, my research is being developed by applying the acquired knowledge in molecular design and optoelectronic measurements, for substrates such as phthalocyanines derivatives. Up to now, I have 25 journal publications, 3 patents and 2 book chapters. I also have an extensive teaching experience, proven with more than 500 hours of teaching and being codirector in several Final Degree projects. In this regard, I have the Spanish certification from the ANECA as "Profesor contratado doctor", "Profesor ayudante doctor" and "Profesor de Universidad privada".
