Jordi Gómez I Prat

Bachelor’s degree in medicine and surgery, University of Barcelona (1994). Specialist in clinical infectology and parasitology, Tropical Medicine Foundation, Manaus, Brazil (1997). Master’s degree in Public Health Sciences, National Public Health School, Oswaldo Cruz Foundation (FIOCRUZ), Rio de Janeiro, Brazil (2000). Specialist in Family and Community Medicine (2012). PhD in Medicine and Translational Research, University of Barcelona, Catalonia (2020). He is currently a medical consultant at Drassanes-Vall d’Hebron Tropical Medicine and International Health Unit. He contributes to various research projects and publications in the field of international health. His work focuses on community health related to sexual affective health, tuberculosis, Chagas disease, and health determinants. He previously contributed to research and public health projects about malaria and the formulation of public health in the Amazon basin, Brazil. Artist, largely in the media of drawing, painting, and writing. Both disciplines, medicine and art, have been used in his career for the creation of educational health tools (www.espictools.cat) in different formats (games, songs, documentaries, animation, etc.) which are specific to international health. Founding member of the Association of Friends of People Affected by Chagas Disease (ASAPECHA) (2008-). Member of the advisory council of the International Federation of Associations of People Affected by Chagas Disease (FINDECHAGAS) (2012-). Coordinator Member of the Technical Group of Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) for the control of Chagas Disease (TG6-IEC Chagas) organized by the Chagas Control Program, Department of Control of Neglected Tropical Diseases at the World Health Organization (WHO) (2017-)
