Jordi Bruna

Dr. Jordi Bruna was born in Barcelona in 1974, and graduated in Medicine and Surgery from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona in 1999. He obtained the title of Neurology specialist in 2004 after passing the resident training program at the University Hospital of Bellvitge and obtained the degree of doctor cum laude in the Neurosciences program of the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona in 2012. Since 2005, he is a senior neurology consultant for the departments of Oncology and Hematology of the Institut Català d'Oncologia (ICO)-L'Hospitalet. Later in 2010, he becomes in the Coordinator-in chief of the Multidisciplinary Functional Unit of Neuro-Oncology of the hospitals of Bellvitge and ICO L 'Hospitalet, position in that he remains up to date. To complete his undergraduate training in Neuro-Oncology, in 2012 he performed the International Observership Program in Brain Tumors and Neuro-Oncology at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation, Ohio and completed a stay during 2014 at the Neuro-Oncology Unit of the Department of Medical Oncology of the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, in Boston. At the academic level, aside the publications in peer reviewed scientific journals (>100), he has directed 3 doctoral theses and has participated in numerous courses and academic works. Likewise, he is part of the editorial board of the Neuro-Oncology section of the Revista de Neurologia. He has also been the coordinator of the Neuro-Oncology study group of the Spanish Society of Neurology (SEN) during 2012-2014 and in the steering committee of the Spanish Neuro-Oncology Research Group (GEINO) during 2012-2016. He is member of the European Organization for Research and treatment of Cancer (EORTC), Brain Tumor Group, from where he has participated in clinical trials, some of them as national coordinator. He is also part of the staff of evaluators of the National Agency for Evaluation and Prospective (ANEP) since 2016. Finally, since 2005 he is an associate professor at the Faculty of Medicine of the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. The main research lines in whom develop his research are the toxicities related with cancer treatments (chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathie and chemobrain), as well as, leptomeningeal carcinomatosis, prognostic factors in brain tumors and mechanism of death-resistence in gliomas.
