Bio
I am interested in understanding the mechanisms of brain disorders such as depression, anxiety, and Alzheimer's disease. Using various biophysical and biochemical techniques such as single molecules FRET, atomic force microscopy, patch clamp / planar lipid membrane electrical recording system, I study molecular basis of protein (receptor) structure and function relationship. I’m also very interested in developing new techniques to answer biological questions related to many of devastating diseases. So far I have been studying 1) conformational and functional mechanisms of metabotropic glutamate receptors (GPCRs) and ionotropic glutamate receptors (iGluRs), 2) Interaction of Alzheimer’s disease causing protein, amyloid beta protein, with different composition of lipid membranes, 3) Developed a nanowire waveguide based optical force transducer that can measure mechanical forces of biological samples. My academic training and research experience have provided me with an excellent background in biochemical and biophysical disciplines as well as in engineering and technology development.
