Cerebral cortical pathology contributes to permanent disability in progressive multiple sclerosis (MS). We identified fibrinogen as a novel factor in MS cortex that associates with neurodegeneration, and investigate primary genetic risk factor for MS at the same time. My work is focused on identifying targets amenable to therapeutic modulation to halt cortical neuronal loss in progressive MS, using UK MS Tissue Bank, and also iPSC-derived microglia in co-culture with cortical neurons.
