He started his involvement in scientific research and publications in the late 90s. His sub-specialty interest is in glaucoma. He is a pioneer in applying argon laser peripheral iridoplasty (ALPI) to the initial treatment of acute angle closure glaucoma and acute phacomorphic glaucoma.
He is also a pioneer in introducing the selective laser trabeculoplasty (SLT) and goniosynechialysis (GSL) to Hong Kong for the treatment of open angle and closed angle glaucoma.
