Assoc Prof Jens is an elected member of the American Society of Clinical Investigation and of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts. He studies how the kidney, the liver, skeletal muscle, and the skin form a physiological network that connect salt and water homeostasis with systemic energy metabolism. His preclinical and clinical research projects investigate how disruption of fluid homeostasis results in arterial hypertension, diabetes mellitus, and cardiovascular disease.
