Metamorphic rocks are time-capsules that record the nature and timing of tectonic processes. I use geochemical and geochronological techniques to investigate: 1) the timing of collision and the rate and depth of burial of rocks now exposed in Canadian Proterozoic to Paleogene orogenic belts; 2) the secular evolution of the lithospheric mantle and its relationship to the overlying crust; and 3) petrochemical changes during alteration of ultramafic rocks to inform carbon sequestration exploration.
