Jacobus E. Rooda received the M.Sc. degree from Wageningen University & Research, Wageningen, The Netherlands, and the Ph.D. degree from the University of Twente, Enschede, The Netherlands. Since 1985, he has been a Professor of (manufacturing) systems engineering with the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Eindhoven University of Technology, Eindhoven, The Netherlands. Since 2010, he has been a Professor Emeritus. He is still active in the research fields of engineering design for industrial systems, and of supervisory control bbreak thereof.
