Jorge Jiménez received the B.E. degree in industrial engineering and the M.Sc. degree in control and robotics from the Technical University of Catalonia (UPC), Barcelona, Spain, in 2003 and 2009, respectively, where he is currently pursuing the Ph.D. degree in the Control, Robotics and Vision Program. He is also a Detectors and Instrumentation Engineer at the Institut de Física d’Altes Energies (IFAE), Universitat Autónoma de Barcelona, Barcelona. During his career, he has been extensively working on instrumentation and detectors for astronomy. He joined the Instrumentation Team at the Very Large Telescope (VLT), Antofagasta, Chile, and has led detectors’ characterization for the Physics of the Accelerating Universe (PAU) camera and the Guiding-Focusing and Alignment system for the Dark Energy Spectroscopic Instrument (DESI-GFA). He collaborated with the University of Florida, Gainesville, FL, USA, for the characterization of two SWIR FPAs. He is currently the ASTEROID Project Coordinator of the IFAE’s workpackage.
