J. H. Goforth

James H. Goforth received the M.S. degree in physics from New Mexico State University, Las Cruces, in 1973. His thesis was entitled “R.F. Plasmoids in Various Substances.” He has been working in the pulsed-power field since he entered active duty in the Air Force in 1973 at the Air Force Weapons Laboratory (AFWL, currently the Air Force Research Laboratory), Kirtland AFB, NM. As part of the AFWL SHIVA team, he began almost immediately participating in plasma Z-pinch research powered by explosive pulsed power at the Los Alamos National Laboratory, Los Alamos, NM. He left the Air Force in 1976 and spent five years working in the Detonator Group at Los Alamos, before joining the Explosive Pulsed Power Group. He remains in that group today, where he is the Team Leader for explosive pulsed power.
