Dr Cornel’s research career is focused on heart failure, atherosclerosis and coronary artery disease. At present, his work investigates the role of inflammation in atherosclerosis, he has served as the Dutch PI of LODOCO-2, a randomised, placebo-controlled trial of low-dose colchicine and is steering committee member of CLEAR OASIS 9. A fellow of the European Society of Cardiology (ESC), Dr Cornel is also a former President of the Dutch Network for Cardiovascular Research (WCN). He has served on a number of steering committees of international, multicentre cardiovascular studies including PLATO, TECOS, GLAGOV and CANTOS. Dr Cornel has authored or co-authored over 250 research papers in peer-reviewed journals.
