Ivan Lopez currently works at the Department of Head and Neck Surgery, University of California, Los Angeles. The main area of research interest of my laboratory is: Modern studies of the human temporal bone. Our laboratory has established new protocols for studying the human temporal bone, including the application of design-based stereology to study normal and pathological specimens. I have developed a microdissection method for the human vestibular and auditory endorgans. This microdissected tissue has been used successfully to prepare plastic-embedded specimens for design-based estimates of type I, type II hair cell numbers in the utricle (Gopen et al., 2003, in my CV) and cristae ampullares (Lopez et al., 2005b, in my CV).
