Irene Heredero Bermejo currently works at the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology, Indiana University School of Medicine. Irene does research in Microbiology and Parasitology. A constant driver throughout her training has been her interest in understanding the biology of parasites. As such, her research is focused on understanding molecular mechanisms of parasites survival and characterizing essential proteins with the ultimate goal of developing new therapeutic strategies. Their current projects are 'Elucidating new and old roles for autophagy-like proteins in Toxoplasma gondii', 'Characterization of a dynamin related protein in Toxoplasma gondii' and 'Prostate pathogenesis during Toxoplasma gondii infection'
