Irene Ganan-Gomez

My research is focused on the functional and molecular characterization of the hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) responsible for the origin, maintenance and progression of myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS). My aim is to identify key oncogenic mechanisms in MDS HSCs at different disease stages -before MDS development, at the time of diagnosis and after disease progression- and design strategies to target them in order to prevent MDS evolution and/or arrest disease progression after therapy failure.
