Damarys Loew

Damarys Loew obtained her PhD in Analytical Chemistry at the University of Strasbourg under the direction of Alain Van Dorsselaer in 1999 at the LSMBO, specialized in mass spectrometry-based method developments for the characterization of biomolecules. She is presently the head of the Mass Spectrometry and Proteomics laboratory at Institut Curie (IC), PSL University. After a group leader position at the laboratory of mass spectrometry “La Dargoire” Bayer CropScience and a postdoctoral position in analytical chemistry at Aventis Pharma, she joined IC in 2001 to set up the IC CurieCoreTech mass spectrometry proteomics facility. She is working with almost all IC research groups but also with other cancer institute (Gustave Roussy …) after the labeling of the facility in 2008 “cancéropôle” facility. She aims to design, to adjust strategies and to develop innovating approaches to provide a state-of-art proteomics service. She focused more specifically in developing in-house solutions to provide the community with bio-informatics tools for management, mining, curation or mass spectrometry-based (MS) data sharing. She co-authored more than 80 publications in international journals all involving biological mass spectrometry. Damarys Loew is member of the French Society of Mass Spectrometry and of the Core for Life proteomics work group, the alliance of life science Core facilities in Europe.
