Dr. Hsing-Yu Chen is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) doctor and internal specialist in the department of TCM, division of Chinese internal medicine and pediatrics, Chang-Gung Memorial Hospital (CGMH) and his is also the lecturer of TCM in the Chang-Gung University. Chinese internal medicine and evidence-based TCM are two subjects he teaches. Also, he is the consultant of medical statistics and clinical trial design in his department. He completed training course of Chinese and western internal medicine and thus he has both certificates of western medicine internal specialists and TCM doctor. He is interested in evidence-based TCM and TCM epidemiology. By using a nationwide claim database, the National Health Insurance Research Database, several core Chinese herbal medicine for treating asthma, atopic dermatitis, urticaria, primary dysmenorrhea, pre-menstrual syndrome and breast cancer are identified and published. Further, utilization pattern and effectiveness of core Chinese herbal medicine (CHM) and acupuncture were evaluated by cohort studies and clinical trials; both these studies are helpful in rediscovering wisdom of TCM from the EBM viewpoint.
