David W. Holdsworth received the B.Sc. degree in physics, the M. Sc. degree in astronomy, and the Ph.D. degree in medical biophysics from the University of Toronto, Toronto, ON, Canada, in 1982, 1986, and 1992, respectively. Since 1993, he has been a Scientist with the Imaging Research Laboratories, Robarts Research Institute, The University of Western Ontario, London, ON, where he is also a Professor in the Departments of Surgery and Medical Biophysics and Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry, and the Dr. Sandy Kirkley Chair in Musculoskeletal Research. His current research interests include the development and use of computer tomography (CT), MRI, and ultrasound techniques to investigate both vascular disease and musculoskeletal disease. He is supported by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) to develop new X-ray-based techniques to diagnose and treat diseased blood vessels within the brain, applicable to both endovascular and surgical therapy. He is involved in musculoskeletal imaging, with projects ranging from basic skeletal research to clinical therapy. Prof. Holdsworth is a member of the The International Society for Optical Engineers (SPIE), the International Society for Magnetic Resonance in Medicine (ISMRM), and the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine (AIUM). He has previously been supported as a Career Investigator with the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario.
