Prof. Chan's research interests focus on gerontology, end-of-life care as well as care ethics. She has conducted a number of research projects on promoting advance care planning and health coaching for people with chronic conditions and their family members. She was inducted as Fellow of American Academy of Nursing in 2021. She serves as an Editor of Journal of Clinical Nursing.
