Hao Su

Hao Su (Member, IEEE) received the B.S. degree from the Harbin Institute of Technology, Harbin, China, in 2006, the M.S. degree from the State University of New York University at Buffalo, Buffalo, NY, USA, in 2008, and the Ph.D. degree from the Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI), Worcester, MA, USA, in 2013. He was the Irwin Zahn Endowed Assistant Professor with The City University of New York, New York, NY, USA. He was a Research Scientist with Philips Research North America, Cambridge, MA, USA, and then a Postdoctoral Fellow with Harvard University, Cambridge, and the Wyss Institute for Biologically Inspired Engineering, Boston, MA, USA. He is currently an Associate Professor with the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, North Carolina State University, Raleigh, NC, USA. He holds patents on surgical robotics and socially assistive robots. Dr. Su was a recipient of the National Science Foundation CAREER Award, the National Institutes of Health (NIH) R01 Award, the Best Student Paper Award of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) Dynamic Systems Control Division Mechatronics Technical Committee, the Toyota Mobility Challenge Discover Award, the Best Medical Robotics Paper Runner-Up Award in the IEEE International Conference on Robotics and Automation (ICRA), and the Philips Innovation Transfer Award. He received the Advanced Simulation & Training Award from the Link Foundation and the Dr. Richard Schlesinger Award from the American Society for Quality. He also serves as an Associate Editor for IEEE Robotics and Automation Letters(RAL), Journal of Mechanisms and Robotics (ASME), IEEE International Conference on Robotics and Automation (ICRA), and IEEE/RSJ International Conference on Intelligent Robots and Systems (IROS).
