个人简介
My long-term career goal is to become an academic faculty member applying Electron Paramagnetic Resonance (EPR) methodology to answer biologic problems related to human health and disease. I am uniquely qualified because I have an extensive training in EPR spectroscopy. I am working to extend my foundation in EPR chemistry to biologic problems related to inflammation and fibrosis. I was recruited in Summer 2016 to enable Dr. Eva Nozik Grayck to establish the EPR Shared Resource Facility on the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus. I have an independent project interrogating how alterations in the antioxidant enzyme, EC-SOD modulate free radical production in different lung compartments and redox-sensitive signaling in lung and vascular diseases. EPR spectroscopy is the only method available to measure free radical species unambiguously. It requires specialized technology and technical expertise. I have developed the protocols to allow us to evaluate the site-specific production of superoxide in in vitro and in vivo models. I am developing EPR methodology in biological setting and enhancing collaborations under Dr. Grayck guidance. We have recently established and validated the protocols for EPR measurements using multiple EPR probes and antioxidants in tissue samples, which will enable measurements from lung samples . My career focus will be to harness the power of EPR to advance the study of redox mechanisms contributing to human cardiopulmonary health and disease and extend my career to apply the developed EPR methods to answer impactful health problems
