Gustavo Naumann

My background is in meteorology and climatology with focus on climate impacts and risk management. I have an extensive knowledge in applied research related to natural hazards in the atmospheric and climate system. After the completion of my degree and my PhD I have gained an wide understanding in climate modelling and statistics applied to climate related sciences and their impacts on different socioeconomic sectors. During my career I authored or co-authored more than 50 articles published in peer reviewed scientific journals, more than 30 book chapters and technical reports (many EU Technical and Science for Policy Reports) as well as more than 60 conference proceedings and presentations. I am a contributing author to the next Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) Assessment Report (AR6-WG2) as well as contributing author to the UNDRR - Global Assessment Report on Disaster Risk Reduction (GAR-2019) and leading author to the 2021 UNDRR Special report on droughts. I’m currently co-convener of the Drought risk, vulnerability and impact assessment: achievements and future directions session at European Geophysical Union (EGU) 2020, 2021 & 2022, General Assembly, (Vienna) and Guest editor of the Drought vulnerability, risk and impact assessments: bridging the science-policy gap special issue in EGU’s NHESS (2020-2021). Since 2021 I am also a member of the PhD Board in Risk, Climate Change and Sustainable Development at the University of Genoa.
