Guillermo O. García

Guillermo O. García (Life Member, IEEE) was born in Río Cuarto, Argentina, in 1954. He received the Electrical and Electronic Eng. degree in electrical and electronic engineering from the National University of Córdoba, Córdoba, Argentina, in 1981, and the M.Sc. and Dr. degrees in electrical engineering from COPPE, Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in 1990 and 1994, respectively. From 1994 he has served as a Professor, the Director of the Applied Electronics Group (GEA), and the Founding Director of the Master’s and Doctorate Programs in Engineering Sciences with the National University of Río Cuarto (UNRC). Since 1998 he has been a Researcher with the National Scientific and Technical Research Council (CONICET) of Argentina. He retired in 2023 as a Full Professor from UNRC and Senior Researcher from CONICET. His areas of technical interests include power electronics, electrical machines, automatic control systems and their applications. Dr. García was the President of the Joint Chapter 1 of IEEE Argentina from 2009 to 2010. He received the “Houssay Trajectory Award 2020” corresponding to the areas of engineering, architecture, and computer science, the highest award given annually to the most outstanding people in the Argentine scientific system.
