Dr. Hatch has a broad background in lipid biochemistry, with specific training and expertise in lipid species analysis, enzyme purification and characterization, molecular and whole animal biology. His research includes identification, purification and characterization of monolysocardiolipin acyltransferase-1 (MLCL AT-1), the lipid enzymatic activity present in HADHA. As a Canada Research Chair in Molecular Cardiolipin Metabolism and PI on several national funded grants in Canada, Dr. Hatch has uncovered many novel facets of cardiolipin biology that made it possible to attract and train high quality personnel. He has successfully administered projects (e.g. staffing, research protections, budget), fruitfully and productively collaborated with other researchers, and produced many high quality peer-reviewed publications and reviews from each project.
