Research interests
Professor Papadopoulos' main interests are in Mathematical and Theoretical Physics, with emphasis on the applications of Differential Geometry and Algebraic Topology in modern physics. He has worked on General Relativity, Supersymmetric Theories, M-Theory, String Theory, AdS/CFT and Quantum Field Theory.
His contributions include the classification of supersymmetric solutions in string theories, the investigation of special geometric structures that apply to physics, and the understanding of black hole near horizon geometries.
More recently his research focuses on the Penrose limits of the Kerr black hole, the nature of spacetime singularities, the holography for asymptotically flat spacetimes, and the classification and geometry of AdS and near horizon black hole solutions in String Theory and M-Theory.
