Gang Niu (Senior Member, IEEE) was born in Xi’an, Shaanxi, China, in 1982. He received the B.S. and M.S. degrees from the Electronic Science and Engineering Department, Xi’an Jiaotong University, Xi’an, in 2004 and 2007, respectively, and the Ph.D. degree from the School of Electric Electronic and Automation, École Centrale de Lyon, Écully, France, in 2010. From 2010 to 2011, he was a Postdoctoral Researcher with Institut des Nanotechnologies de Lyon, CNRS, Paris, France. From 2011 to 2013, he worked at the Leibniz Insitute for High Performance Microelectronics (IHP), Frankfurt (Oder), Germany, as a Postdoctoral Researcher with the support from Alexander von Humboldt Foundation. From 2013 to 2015, he was a Research Scientist and a Project Leader with IHP. Since 2015, he has been a Research Professor with the School of Electronic Science and Engineering, Xi’an Jiaotong University. He is the author of one book chapter and more than 80 journal articles. He holds six patents. His research interests include “More than Moore” materials and devices, including ferroelectric films, monolithic integration of single-crystalline oxides with silicon, heteroepitaxy of Ge, and III–V compounds with low defect density and nonvolatile memories. Dr. Niu is also an Editorial Board Member of Nano Express (IOP). He was a recipient of the Alexander von Humboldt Fellowship in 2012 and the Germany DFG Mercator Fellowship in 2019.
