Bio
She studies the epigenetic mechanism of development and disease. Her laboratory focuses on clarifying the intersection between genetics and epigenetics, which determines the reaction degree and heredity of offspring to maternal exposure under the developmental origin paradigm of health and disease.
Her current project investigates the mouse model of maternal folic acid and vitamin D deficiency, as well as maternal exposure to endocrine disrupting pesticide vinclozolin. Recently, the laboratory also began to characterize the role of maternal obesity and gestational diabetes in offspring development through placental epigenetic mechanism (SOWETO 1000, South Africa). These studies are essential to understand the mechanism of maternal health (determined by nutrition, toxic exposure and genetics) affecting offspring outcomes. Emphasizing the role of induced and naturally occurring genetic differences increases the correlation of multi-ethnic/global population.
