Felix Hoflmayer

Felix studied Egyptology and Archaeology at the University of Vienna and joined the Austrian Academy of Sciences in 2006, and graduated in 2010. In 2009, he joined the Orient Department of the German Archaeological Institute, first in Amman (Jordan) from 2009 to 2011, later in Berlin (2011 to 2013). From 2013 to 2015, he was the Post-Doctoral Fellow at the Oriental Institute of the University of Chicago. In 2015, he received an APART-Fellowship of the Austrian Academy of Sciences and returned to Vienna. In 2016, he was awarded the START-grant of the Austrian Science Fund (FWF) for “Tracing Transformations”. Felix teaches at the University of Vienna and co-directs the Austrian-Israeli excavations at Tel Lachish (Israel) together with Katharina Streit.
