Joanna Faure Walker is Head of Department of the Institute for Risk and Disaster Reduction and Professor of Earthquake Geology and Disaster Risk Reduction.

Faure Walker's primary research is centred around studying faults in the Earth’s continental crust and using this to better understand the physical processes controlling earthquake generation, locations and timing for improving earthquake hazard and risk assessment. She further investigates disaster shelter, warning and evacuation.
