Fabian Kloosterman received the Ph.D. degree in neurobiology from the University of Amsterdam, The Netherlands, in 2003. He is a Principal Investigator at the Neuro-Electronics Research Flanders (NERF) and an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences of KU Leuven, Belgium. Until 2011, he worked as a Postdoctoral Fellow and Senior Researcher at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in Cambridge, MA, USA. His research explores the link between brain, cognition and behavior. In particular, he studies the neural mechanisms of spatial navigation, learning and memory using a combination of large-scale measurement and closed-loop manipulation of brain activity. He is further interested in the development and application of neurotechnology and computational tools to understand brain function.
