Bessière Francis

Francis Bessière was born in Paris, France. He received the M.Sc. degree in biomedical engineering with a specialization in medical imaging from the Grenoble INP–Phelma Engineering School, Grenoble, France, in 2018, the Medical Doctor degree in cardiology from the University Claude Bernard of Lyon, Lyon, France, in 2015, and the Ph.D. degree in biomedical engineering from Université Lyon 1, Lyon, in 2019. After a two-year fellowship at the Montreal Institute of Heart in adult and pediatric cardiac electrophysiology, he received the Ph.D. degree. He works simultaneously as an Electrophysiologist at the Louis Pradel Cardiologic Hospital (Hospices Civils de Lyon), Lyon, where he occupies the Head of Clinic position. He currently works with the Laboratory of Therapeutic Applications of Ultrasound (LabTAU), Lyon, on the conception of a high-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) probe for doing cardiac ablation noninvasively. He has been involved in ex and in vivo experiments for developing this new approach. In parallel, he works in developing solution to assess real-time anatomical monitoring of thermal ablation during electrophysiological catheter-based procedures. His field of research and expertise aims to develop new technics for treating complex cardiac arrhythmias, particularly in congenital heart diseases. Dr. Bessière has been a member of the French Cardiovascular Society and the European Society of Cardiology since 2011.
