Esma R. Isenovic

Prof.dr Esma R.Isenovic Prof. dr. Esma R. Isenovic is a tenured Professor of Biochemistry, and Associate to Dean for Science at Faculty of Stomatology, Pancevo, Visiting Research Professor, The Pharmaceutical Research Institute at Albany, Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, New York, USA, Head of Laboratory for Endocrinology, Hypertension and Metabolic Diseases, in the Department of Molecular Genetics and Radiobiology at Institute Vinca, University of Belgrade, Serbia. During the past 20 years, her investigative interest has been that of diabetes and cardiovascular diseases and the role of different hormones in cardiovascular biology. She has more than 20 years of experience in basic and clinical science research. She has presented her results at many national and international meetings. During the past year, her research focused on the molecular mechanisms of arthrosclerosis, insulin resistance and diabetes and dissection of different signaling pathways. She is currently working to further clarify the role of different hormones in normal cardiovascular biology and in pathophysiological states such as atherosclerosis, diabetes, insulin resistance and cardiovascular diseases. She also serves as a Co-Investigator on NIH, the Department of Veterans' Affairs, and the American Diabetes Association grants. Her ongoing scientific work is funded by Ministry of Science of Serbia and several grants funded by European Union. Prof. Dr. lsenovic has considerable experience in leadership and coordination of national and international scientific projects, with a scientific publication record. She is a member of several national and international societies. In addition, she serves on the editorial board and as a reviewer for a number of scientific and medical journals. She has acted as referee for 101 scientific and medical journals. Her work has been published in high ranking journals. She has published over 187 papers (H-factor 19) in peer-reviewed journal and has over 1000 citations. Prof. Isenovic received a PhD in Molecular Biology from the University of Belgrade, Serbia, and completed postdoctoral research in several laboratories in the USA and Europe. She has served as evaluator for: Era Africa - component of the European Commission’s Seventh Framework Programme - Call FOR International Bureau of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research at the Project Management Agency c/o German Aerospace Center (DLR); Endocrine Society-Summer Research Fellowship Awards-2013, FP7-PEOPLE-2012-IAPP -EU 7th Framework Programme in the areas of Systems Medicine and Health; EU-India joint Call FOR International Bureau of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research at the Project Management Agency c/o German Aerospace Center (DLR) Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst-DAAD, Project of Bilateral cooperation-2011; Endocrine Society-Summer Research Fellowship Awards-Ministry of Science, (Serbia) etc.
