Der Lehrstuhl hat insbesondere Expertise in der Analytik chiraler Aromastoffe, beim Einsatz gekoppelter chromatographischer Techniken zur Analytik von Minorlipiden sowie im Metabolite Profiling pflanzlicher Matrices.
Prof. Engel engagiert sich in der Europäischen Lebensmittelbehörde (EFSA) bei der Risikobewertung von Aromastoffen und Novel Foods.
