Dr Webster is recognised for her pragmatic and collaborative approach to research and her genuine desire to engage academia to serve community interests.
In her work with Aboriginal people and communities, Dr Webster acknowledges Aboriginal values, ways of knowing and doing research. She has experience applying decolonising approaches to enhance participation of Aboriginal people in research design and conduct. She also has an interest in exploring bicultural models of care which give proper recognition to the value of Aboriginal cultural protocols and practices in healthcare.
Dr Webster is passionate about improving healthcare and health outcomes for rural and regional communities. She employs co-design and co-production approaches to collaborate with public and private health providers to undertake health services research which drive improvements in care for rural communities.
Supporting rural clinicians to enhance their research skills is an important part of improving rural health outcomes and Dr Webster has extensive experience in novice researcher development and helping organisations build their capacity for research. Dr Webster convenes a monthly Research Interest Group which provides a forum for encouragement and development of research skills and applied research.
With a public health background, and interests in rural, health services and Aboriginal health research, Dr Webster’s expertise in communicating and demystifying research has been highly sought. She has contributed book chapters and presented keynote addresses on her unique perspectives on research and insights into researcher development.
