Elvira P Leites

I graduated in Genetics and Biotechnology at the University of Trás-os-Montes e Alto Douro, Vila Real. During these three years I expanded my theoretical knowledge, my team work ability and my passion for Science. In the end of my bachelor’s degree I had the chance to do an internship at the Portuguese Institute of Oncology (IPO, Porto). I received my Master degree from the University of Coimbra in 2014 where I had the unique opportunity to travel abroad and do my research project at Janssen Pharmaceutica, in Belgium. I had the opportunity to be a visiting scholar visitor at VIB Center for the Biology of Disease, K.U.Leuven, Belgium, after which I started a technical research fellowship under the supervision of Dr. Vanessa Morais at Instituto de Medicina Molecular (iMM) in Lisbon. In January 2017 I was accepted to be part of the LisbonBioMed PhD program, at Instituto de Medicina Molecular where I am under the supervision of Dr. Vanessa Morais. I consider myself a persistent and hard-working person and I seize any opportunity to learn and develop my skills throughout my scientific training. I am an independent and responsible person, easily adaptable to new environments and with a strong team spirit.
