My team focuses on the developmental, environmental and genetic determinisms of seed quality traits (germination, vigor, dormancy, desiccation tolerance and longevity) in crops (soybean, tomato and coffee) and wild species from the Brazilian Cerrado biome. My laboratory is equipped for seed production, seed quality testing, seed physiology and molecular biology. Within Brazil, I have extensive collaborations with other Faculties of UNESP (Botany and Forestry), IPEBEN- Bioenergy and Federal University of Lavras, Minas Gerais for transcriptome, proteome and electron microscope analyses. He also collaborates actively with the Seed Laboratory at the University of Wageningen- The Netherlands and the Royal Botanical Gardens, Kew (UK) on several projects including the genetic and molecular basis of chlorophyll retention in soybean seeds and the relation between seed dormancy/stress tolerance and biodiversity. I have also project in collaboration with Prof. Dr. Olivier Leprince from Agrocampus Ouest – University of Angers - France, working on desiccation tolerance and longevity in soybean seeds. Regional delegate of the International Seed Science Society for Central and South America since 2015. I am accredited in the graduation programs in Agronomy / Agriculture, Forestry Science of FCA-UNESP-Campus of Botucatu, and the Integrated Ph.D. Program in Bioenergy of the State Universities of São Paulo (USP /UNICAMP/UNESP). In addition, I have worked in collaboration with several seed companies such as Incotec, Stoller and Copercana. Every two years I organize and coordinate the International Course on Seed Physiology and Production with the participation of international speakers. More than 500 people have participated in several editions of the course, including undergraduate and graduate students, researchers, professors and employees from the seed industry.
