Associate Professor of Epidemiology at Karolinska Institutet and board-certified physician, Consultant in cardiology and internal medicine. Research group leader since 2012 with 150 peer-reviewed publications and supervision of 7 doctoral students. My research group has a international reputation for running innovative, epidemiological studies combining state-of-the-art analytical methods with complex, large-scale data to answer clinically and policy relevant research questions. Specialized in causal inference using secondary data from the Nordics and the United States, and of running pragmatic, EHR-based randomized clinical trials. I am the Principal Investigator of SCANDAT, one of few Nordic research projects funded by the US National Institute of Health, a globally leading data source for studying long-term blood transfusion safety. Strong track record of leading international research projects, and consistent track record of publications in top-tier medical journals.
