Emmanuel Scorsone

Emmanuel Scorsone received the degree in chemistry from Glasgow Caledonian University, Scotland, and the Ph.D. degree in instrumentation and analytical science from UMIST, Manchester, U.K., in 2002. He worked as an Academic Researcher gaining expertise in artificial olfaction and chemical sensors at the University of Manchester from 2002 to 2004 and a Research and Development Scientist at Alphasense Ltd., U.K., from 2004 to 2006. He integrated with CEA in 2006, where he leads development activities related to chemical sensors, analytical systems, and implantable devices, CEA LIST. He co-authored more than 60 peer-reviewed articles. He is involved in many EU and national projects related to smart diamond-based systems for various applications ranging from health to security. He was an inventor/co-inventor of nine patents in the area of chemical sensors, implantable medical devices, and energy storage. He is a member of the Royal Society of Chemistry, and the International Society for Olfaction and Artificial Sensing. In 2015, he received the Wolfgang Göpel Memorial Award for his work on a bio-electronic nose combining olfactory proteins and synthetic diamond transducers.
