Elisabetta Mattei

Elisabetta Mattei received the Physics degree (cum laude) from the University of Rome “La Sapienza,” Rome, Italy, in 2003, and the Ph.D. degree in environmental physics from Tuscia University, Viterbo, Italy, in 2007. From 2007 to 2012, she was awarded with various post-doctoral positions on investigation, characterization, and development of models through electromagnetic radiation on macro and/or micro scale. She was a Research Fellow with the University of Viterbo, La Crosse, WI, USA, from 2012 to 2016. In 2017, she became an Assistant Professor with the Mathematics and Physics Department, Roma Tre University, Rome, where she is currently an Associate Professor. Her research activity is mainly focused on dielectric spectroscopy for characterization of geo-materials. In particular, her research activity includes inversion technique through nonlinear fitting and minimization procedure of electromagnetic property data and it is related to the interpretation of radar data acquired both from orbit and/or on rover. Dr. Mattei is a member of several scientific teams in different planetary missions approved or currently ongoing by ESA and NASA (MRO, ExoMars, JUICE, and Envision), where she focuses her research activity on measuring and modeling electromagnetic properties of planetary analogs to develop radar system for future missions, to interpret and invert radar data acquired during ongoing missions.
