Erich Fischer is professor at ETH Zurich. He acts as a lead author in the IPCC AR6. In 2019 to 2023 he was identified as a Clarivate Highly Cited Researcher.
His research interests include weather and climate extremes such as heat waves, droughts and heavy rainfall, climate variability and change, climate projections and uncertainties, climate modelling, volcanic effects on climate and impacts on climate change.
He his an Associate Editor of Science family journal Science Advances and a co-​editor of Weather and Climate Dynamics.
