As the Lead Data Scientist at UNICEF, I leverage my 12+ years of experience and PhD in Geographical Sciences to conduct large-scale geospatial data analysis, satellite remote sensing, and AI/ML applications for humanitarian and development purposes. I manage and mentor a team of data scientists and engineers, and collaborate with internal and external partners to deliver innovative and impactful data solutions.
I have led and contributed to several data-driven projects that address global challenges such as child poverty, health, education, and climate change. Some of my achievements include creating a digital public good for mapping school connectivity, developing a machine learning model for predicting child malnutrition, and co-authoring multiple peer-reviewed publications and reports. I am passionate about using data science for social good, and advancing the use of geospatial and AI/ML technologies in the UN system and beyond.
