Derek Johnson is Professor in the Department of Anthropology, the University of Manitoba. Derek's primary area of research is the political ecology of small-scale fisheries. He is currently leading a project on the social economy of dried fish in South and Southeast Asia. He spent many years working on the marine fishery of Gujarat State, India. He has collaborated with others on research in other parts of South Asia, and elsewhere globally.
